Election Commission's Transparency in Electoral Rolls "Unparalleled": Gyanesh Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has underscored the Election Commission's commitment to transparency in preparing electoral rolls, describing it as "unparalleled." Speaking at a programme in Agravan near Water Works crossing on Wednesday, Kumar highlighted the scale of the EC's operations during elections and urged citizens to engage with its digital initiatives.

World's Largest Democracy Under EC's Watch
India, with its staggering 950 million voters, is the world's largest democracy, Kumar noted. He emphasised that the EC ensures transparency in every step of electoral roll preparation, a critical component of the country's democratic process.

Special Intensive Revision Covers 700 Million Voters
Providing updates on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Kumar revealed that the exercise has already verified records for approximately 700 million voters. Verification for the remaining 350 million voters is currently underway. Before finalising the electoral roll, government officials certify the records, and recognised political parties are invited to audit the lists, ensuring accuracy and fairness.

Digital Access to Electoral Data Since 1951
Kumar also urged citizens to download the ECI Net mobile application, which offers access to Election Commission information and electoral data dating back to 1951. This initiative aims to make electoral data more accessible and promote public participation in the democratic process.
