CM Revanth Reddy orders two-day probe into wrongly blocked property registrations

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to verify within two days whether lands booked for online registration have been incorrectly included in the Section 22A prohibited list, promising immediate clearance for genuine private properties.

The assurance came during a Tuesday review meeting called to address mounting complaints about private lands being swept into the prohibited category under Section 22A of the Registration Act. The Chief Minister said the government has launched steps to remove obstacles facing legitimate owners seeking to register their properties.

District-level audits ordered

District Collectors have been tasked with physically inspecting all lands currently listed under Section 22A and compiling a comprehensive inventory, a measure officials described as a permanent fix to the problem. The Chief Minister said the listing exercise would be completed soon.

Government stance on private property

"The Government is firm that not even an inch of private land will be affected," Revanth Reddy stated, reiterating the administration's commitment to safeguarding property rights. He emphasized that the state is determined to protect people's rights over their properties.

The Chief Minister also cautioned the public against trusting brokers, middlemen, or unverified rumours circulating about Section 22A lands.

Section 22A of the Registration Act allows authorities to prohibit registration of certain properties, typically to prevent illegal transactions involving government or disputed lands. The current controversy centers on allegations that privately owned parcels have been mistakenly included in these restricted lists, potentially blocking legitimate sales and transfers.
