The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has seen a decline of 2 lakh followers on its Instagram account. On June 7, the follower count stood at 2.27 crore, but by June 16, it had dropped to 2.25 crore. Earlier, on June 6, the account had 2.21 crore followers, which surged to 2.27 crore within 24 hours after the party's first protest in Delhi.
CJP is organizing a protest today at 4 PM at Samvidhan Chowk in Nagpur. Prior to the protest, founder Abhijit Deepke will address a press conference at 12 PM. The party is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over issues such as the NEET paper leak, irregularities in CBSE exams, and broader concerns about the education system. On Monday, a protest was held in Jaipur at the Shaheed Smarak on MI Road, where Deepke was slapped by individuals from the crowd.
In Nagpur, security has been tightened following the Jaipur incident. Over 640 police personnel, including 4 DCPs, 3 ACPs, 18 inspectors, and 45 sub-inspectors, have been deployed. Two riot control platoons are also on standby. Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal has warned of strict action against any attempts to disrupt law and order.
During the Jaipur protest, Deepke was lifted on the shoulders of supporters when a group of youths broke through the crowd, grabbed his collar, and slapped him. The situation escalated, but police intervened and arrested five individuals—Rohit Sharma, Rakesh Gurjar, Ajay Sharma, Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat, and Niket—on charges of disturbing public peace. The accused claimed dissatisfaction with Deepke's statements and the party's methods. Deepke later observed a two-minute silence in memory of students who allegedly died by suicide due to the NEET paper leak, calling the attack on him an assault on democracy.
