Abhijit Deepke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), stated that a photo depicting him with PM Narendra Modi was generated using artificial intelligence. Speaking at a press conference in Pune, Deepke remarked, "I was just a student in America. Everyone knows how strict the process is to meet the PM." His comments came after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut claimed Deepke had met PM Modi in the U.S. before returning to India.
CJP began its nationwide protests today at Savitribai Phule Pune University campus. The party is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing issues like paper leaks, delayed results, lack of transparency in recruitment and entrance exams, and accountability of examination agencies. Deepke announced that the party would also release an education manifesto addressing these concerns.
The movement, described as peaceful and within constitutional limits, will expand to cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Amritsar, and Bengaluru, culminating in a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on June 20. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has joined the campaign, highlighting the impact on students' futures.
CJP was formed following Chief Justice Surya Kant's remark on May 15, where he compared unemployed youth to cockroaches. Deepke launched the party on May 16 and initiated an online petition demanding the education minister's resignation, which reportedly garnered over 8 lakh supporters. Within 26 days, CJP's Instagram account amassed 2.27 crore followers, surpassing BJP and Congress's follower counts.
