Chittoor police arrested four persons and recovered 280 kg of stolen copper wire worth Rs 15 lakh from a factory near Kuppam using CCTV and technical clues
Chittoor district police said they have recovered 280 kg of copper wire worth about ₹15 lakh after arresting four persons in a theft case linked to a company in Gudupalle mandal near Kuppam.
Theft reported from Pogurupalle industrial area
Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi told the media that the theft had taken place on July 18 at the ABIS company in the Pogurupalle industrial area.
The case was registered at the Gudupalle police station after the company management lodged a complaint, according to the police account.
Police said the arrests were made on Sunday (September 27, 2026) night in connection with the alleged theft of copper wire from the company.
The recovery is significant in the case because police linked the seized copper wire to material allegedly stolen from the industrial unit and valued it at about ₹15 lakh.
CCTV footage and technical evidence used
A special team was formed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Kuppam sub-division) Boddu Hemanth to investigate the case.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage that showed six persons arriving on three two-wheelers.
Police said they used technical evidence to track the movements of the suspects and identify the accused.
The SP said the accused had allegedly sold the stolen copper wire in small quantities at scrap shops in Kuppam and in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
Four accused remanded
The arrested persons were identified as M. Madhu, 24, V. Santhosh, 21, V. Murugan, 30, and A. Vijay, 30, all from the Kuppam division.
Police also found that the accused had allegedly been involved in similar offences earlier.
