CBSE Schools Council urges inclusion in Kerala education policy committees

The Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK) has called on Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to include CBSE-sector representatives in committees tasked with shaping education policies and making decisions affecting unaided schools in the state. The council also proposed creating a permanent coordination mechanism between CBSE schools and the State’s General Education Department.

Push for Collaboration and Safety

In its activity report submitted to the Chief Minister, the CCSK emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and private institutions to ensure equitable access to quality education across both Central and State curricula. Additionally, the council advocated for enhanced safety measures in schools and coordinated efforts to promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of students.

Continuation of Statewide Sports Meet

The council urged the government to ensure the continuation of the Kerala State Schools Sports Meet, an event that has been held for the past five years in partnership with the Kerala State Sports Council. The meet brings together students from CBSE, ICSE, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, fostering inter-school camaraderie and athletic excellence.

Support for Anti-Drug Campaigns

Reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, the CCSK pledged full support for the state government’s ‘Operation Toofan’ campaign against drug and tobacco use. The council announced plans to intensify awareness initiatives involving students, teachers, and parents across CBSE schools in Kerala.

Broader Initiatives and Government Response

The CCSK’s memorandum, also presented to General Education Minister N. Samsudheen and Sports Minister O.J. Janeesh, detailed a range of educational, cultural, artistic, and sports initiatives undertaken by the council. The Chief Minister and other officials assured the delegation that their recommendations would be carefully considered.

The delegation was led by Indira Rajan, Secretary General of the National Council of CBSE Schools, along with Suchithra Shaijinth, General Secretary of CCSK, and Fr. Johny Kanjirathinkal, Zonal President.
