In council-run schools, students are eating the mid-day meal, and the utensils used for the meal are also being washed. However, teachers are allegedly not considering it necessary to enter the number of students in the MDM register by that time. The student count is supposed to be entered while the mid-day meal is being prepared.

The issue came to light when the BSA inspected schools on Saturday afternoon. The teachers could not give an answer when the BSA asked them about the missing entries. The BSA is treating the failure to record the student count as a financial irregularity and is seeking explanations from the teachers.

At around 12 noon, BSA Anil Kumar inspected schools in Shikohabad and Madanpur. When he reached the Primary School Nizampur Garhuma in Shikohabad, the MDM register did not contain the number of students who had eaten the mid-day meal at the school. The teachers were unable to answer questions about the missing entry.

The same situation was found at the Primary School Nagla Lokman in Madanpur block. The student count had not been entered in the mid-day meal register there either.

Deficiencies in the operation of the MDM were also found at the Primary School Fatehpur Karkha. The records related to the mid-day meal were incomplete at the Primary School Ahmadpur.

At the Upper Primary School Amaur, the condition of the storage and upkeep of the mid-day meal material and sports material was not found satisfactory. The BSA has said that not entering the student count in the mid-day meal register will be treated as a financial irregularity. Notices are being issued to the teachers concerned.

The BSA inspected eight schools on Monday as well. The inspection included the Primary School Amaur, Nanemau Sherpur, Nanemau and the Upper Primary School Fatehpur Karkha.

During the inspection, the BSA asked students questions in the classrooms and also made them solve questions on the board. The cleaning arrangements in the schools were not found satisfactory. The BSA issued instructions to the headmasters regarding the cleanliness arrangements.

The BSA also checked sports material and other items in the schools. The inspection covered the condition of records, the mid-day meal arrangements, cleanliness and the upkeep of material.

During the inspection, a Shikshamitra working at the Primary School Nizampur Garhuma in Shikohabad was found absent without prior information. An assistant teacher was also not present at the Upper Primary School Madanpur. Notices are being issued by the department to the Shikshamitra and the teacher.

The BSA had sent a message in the group to teachers of all blocks on Monday morning. The teachers had been instructed to enter the student count in the MDM register at the schools. They had also been told that failure to make the entry would be considered a financial irregularity. Despite the message and the instructions, teachers continued to show negligence in making the entries.
