Patna: Bihar has the potential to achieve its ambitious export target of ₹25,000 crore by 2030, provided local businesses actively explore global markets, industry experts emphasized during a recent event in the state capital.

The remarks were made at the conclusion of the second phase of the Export Market Entry & Growth Programme, held on June 17 and 18 in Patna. The two-day event, organized by the Bihar Industries Association (BIA) with support from the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), aimed to equip aspiring exporters with knowledge on global trade practices, export strategies, and quality standards.

International export expert Jagat Shah underscored Bihar’s strong export potential in a diverse range of products, including makhana, litchi, fruits, vegetables, textiles, medical furniture, building materials, processed potatoes, and the state’s famed Madhubani paintings. He highlighted that with proper planning, market identification, and adherence to global quality norms, nearly any product or service from Bihar could secure a foothold in international markets.

Rashmi Ranjan, deputy general manager of SIDBI, noted that the state government has introduced several incentives to support exporters. These include partial reimbursement of electricity expenses and financial assistance for overseas business visits.

Additionally, she pointed out that the development of cargo and container facilities in Muzaffarpur is expected to significantly enhance logistics capabilities. These facilities are anticipated to enable direct international shipments by 2027, further bolstering the state’s export infrastructure.
