Bidar CEO reviews VB-G RAM G scheme, boosts wages and workdays

Bidar Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Girish Badole conducted an on-ground review of the Viksit Bharat Grameen Rural Ajeevika for Guarantee Mission Grameen (VB-G RAM G) scheme in Janawada village, Bidar taluk, on Tuesday. The visit focused on assessing the progress of ongoing projects under the revised rural employment programme, which promises enhanced livelihood security for rural households.

Increased Workdays and Wage Boost

During the inspection, Mr. Badole highlighted key updates to the VB-G RAM G scheme. The annual employment entitlement has been raised from 100 to 125 man-days, while the daily wage has been increased from ₹370 to ₹382. These changes mean that job card holders can now earn up to ₹47,750 annually, offering significant financial relief to rural families. "The revised provisions aim to provide greater employment opportunities and income support to rural households," Mr. Badole reiterated during his interactions with workers and field officials.

Transparency and Timely Payments

To ensure accountability, Mr. Badole directed field officials to strictly adhere to updated attendance protocols under the National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS). Attendance must be recorded twice daily to guarantee accurate and timely wage disbursements. This emphasis on transparency is intended to strengthen trust in the programme and its execution.

Focus on Sustainable Rural Assets

The CEO also underscored the scheme’s dual focus on wage employment and the creation of durable rural assets. Individual beneficiary projects, such as farm ponds, soak pits, cattle sheds, and agricultural field bunding, are being encouraged. Additionally, community works like lake desilting and water conservation initiatives are being prioritised to address long-term rural development needs.

318 New Projects Sanctioned

Mr. Badole revealed that 318 new works have been sanctioned across Bidar district under the scheme this year, reflecting its expanded scope and ambition. During his visit, he inspected the desilting of a nala in Janawada village, one of the many projects aimed at improving water management and agricultural productivity in the region.

The VB-G RAM G scheme’s revisions are expected to significantly bolster rural livelihoods while fostering sustainable development in Bidar district.
