Assam Governor Highlights Sanskrit’s Role in Bridging Heritage and Modernity
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated a lecture series in memory of eminent Sanskrit scholar Pattabhirama Sastry at the National Sanskrit University (NSU) on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized Sanskrit’s enduring relevance, describing it as a vital link between India’s ancient heritage and the modern generation. He expressed hope that NSU would continue to serve as a bridge connecting the past and present.
Call to Explore Sanskrit’s Scientific Depths
Mr. Acharya urged students to delve into the scientific knowledge embedded in Sanskrit texts, encouraging them to decode these insights and share their benefits with future generations. He highlighted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as a transformative step in integrating ancient disciplines with contemporary education, enhancing their relevance on a global scale.
Tribute to Pattabhirama Sastry
Paying homage to Pattabhirama Sastry, the Governor lauded the scholar’s nationwide reputation, noting that his contributions to Sanskrit studies were recognized even in distant academic hubs like Varanasi. The event began with a ceremonial welcome, ‘Poornakumbha Swagatham,’ led by NSU Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthi, Registrar K.V. Narayana Rao, and academic dean Rajanikant Shukla.
The lecture series underscores the university’s commitment to preserving and promoting Sanskrit as a living tradition, while also aligning it with modern educational and scientific advancements.
