Belagavi-based Aequs announces long-term supply agreements with Safran for aerospace applications

Aequs has signed long-term supply agreements with Safran for critical aerospace components, expanding the relationship between the Belagavi-based precision manufacturing company and the French aerospace company.

According to Aequs, the agreements will support Safran’s supply chain and ongoing production programmes while contributing to Aequs’ growth and development in the aerospace sector.

The announcement gives Aequs a presence across six Safran entities, marking a further expansion of its relationship with the aerospace group.

Work linked to Hosur ecosystem

The agreements involve major work at the upcoming Aequs Engine Components Ecosystem (AECE) in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

The scope includes machining superalloys parts, supplying complex machining coating, and assembling landing gear components for the Airbus A320, A330 and A350 programmes, as well as the Boeing 787 programme.

The work covers components used across multiple aircraft programmes, making the agreements significant for Aequs’ role in supplying products to global aerospace manufacturers.

Aequs said it will use its integrated aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and end-to-end capabilities to manufacture the products.

These capabilities span forging, precision machining, special processes, surface treatment and assembly.

The company’s approach is intended to bring several stages of aerospace manufacturing within its integrated production base rather than limiting the work to a single manufacturing process.

The agreements also strengthen the role of the Aequs Aerospace Cluster in Belagavi as an integrated manufacturing base serving global aerospace supply chains.

Expansion through AECE

Aequs said this capability base will be expanded through the upcoming AECE in Hosur, where the manufacture of all medium and large parts will be taken up.

The Hosur facility will therefore add to the company’s existing manufacturing capabilities as Aequs expands its work across aerospace components and production processes.

Aravind Melligeri, Executive Chairman & CEO, Aequs, said the components to be manufactured for Safran are “among the most demanding flight-critical products to industrialise”.

“Being entrusted with these products is a strong proof of the trust we have built with our customers over the years, and of the capabilities we have developed across our manufacturing ecosystems,” he said.

Agreement follows aircraft wheel contract

The latest announcement comes close on the heels of an agreement signed between Aequs and Safran Landing Systems in July 2026 for the supply of fully assembled A320 family aircraft wheels.

That agreement was Aequs’ first serial production agreement extending beyond 15 years, running through 2042.

Under the wheels agreement, complete aircraft wheels will be manufactured entirely in India, from Indian-sourced aluminium to final assembly and testing.

The arrangement is expected to create 100% in-country manufacturing value addition.

The latest agreements build on a relationship between Aequs and Safran that spans more than a decade and extends across multiple Safran businesses.

Together, the agreements reflect the growing depth of Aequs’ aerospace manufacturing capabilities and its expanding role in supporting global aerospace supply chains from India.
