Union Minister calls for mass turnout at Telangana Liberation Day event in Secunderabad

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has called on citizens to join the Central government's Telangana Liberation Day event at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on September 17 in large numbers.

Speaking to reporters in Karimnagar, the minister leveled sharp accusations against both the ruling Congress and the main opposition BRS, alleging that neither party officially celebrates Telangana Liberation Day due to fear of the Majlis party. He further charged that the two formations have failed to acknowledge the sacrifices made during the Telangana Liberation Struggle.

BJP pledges state-level celebration

Bandi Sanjay announced that once the BJP forms the government in Telangana, his party will organize Telangana Liberation Day as a state function across the entire state. He added that the history of the liberation struggle would be incorporated into school textbooks under a BJP administration.

The minister dismissed the Congress and BRS as "two sides of the same coin" and accused them of wasting the time of the Legislative Assembly.

Financial crisis warning

In a separate allegation, Bandi Sanjay claimed the state government is selling government lands to meet its financial commitments. He warned that Telangana could face a situation similar to those witnessed in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan if the trend continues.

Month-long programme announced

The Union minister revealed that a month-long "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan" will commence on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday and his 25 years in public life. The initiatives will include blood donation camps and an 'Ashirwada Deepam' event on September 17, followed by elocution, drawing and other competitions throughout the month.
