Two Escape Unhurt as Car Catches Fire in Vellore

Two men narrowly escaped injury when their car caught fire near the fort complex in Vellore on Sunday. The incident occurred on Anna Salai in Thorapadi, leaving the vehicle completely gutted before firefighters managed to extinguish the flames.

According to police, S. Jayaraj, a businessman from Vellore, was returning from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh after receiving medical treatment. He was traveling in the car with driver B. Vignesh, 28, when smoke began to emerge from the bonnet. Acting quickly, Vignesh pulled over near the fort complex, allowing both occupants to exit the vehicle before the fire engulfed it entirely.

Firefighters and police from Vellore North station were alerted and rushed to the scene. Despite their prompt response, the car was completely destroyed by the blaze. Authorities later removed the charred remains of the vehicle to clear the road and restore traffic flow on the busy stretch.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire, though officials are conducting a detailed probe to confirm the exact reason. A case has been registered by the Vellore North police, and further investigations are underway.

The quick thinking of the driver likely prevented a major tragedy, and no injuries were reported in the incident.
