A Ganesh idol immersion procession in Raichur turned fatal when three people fell from a tractor negotiating a speed breaker, killing two boys and injuring a man.
The deceased have been identified as 12-year-old Suchit Kumar and 13-year-old Charan Kumar. A 35-year-old man named Vijay sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Rash Driving Over Speed Breaker Claims Lives
The incident occurred when the driver of a tractor carrying a Ganesh idol for immersion drove in a rash manner while negotiating a speed breaker, according to the First Information Report. All three victims fell from the moving vehicle as a result.
The victims were immediately rushed to Navodaya Hospital in Raichur following the accident. Suchit Kumar and Charan Kumar succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Raichur Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri confirmed that the accident was caused by the tractor's imbalance while crossing the road hump. The Raichur Traffic Police have registered a case against the tractor driver, identified as Munna alias Mohammad Hussain, and launched an investigation.
The tragedy occurred during the early hours as the immersion procession was underway.
