Four passengers lost their lives in a train accident in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:15 PM between Hetampur and Dholpur stations on the North Central Railway's Jhansi division. Panic ensued after a rumor of a mobile blast spread among passengers aboard the Udaipur Intercity Express (train number 19665). Alarm chain pulling caused the train to stop mid-section, leading some passengers to disembark hurriedly.
Among the deceased were Kanchan Singh (25) and his wife Mohit Singh from Meerut, Shakuntala Singh (60) from Runakta, and Afreen (35) with her son Asad (4) from Agra. Afreen and Asad were mother and son. The victims were struck by the Firozpur–Seoni Patalkot Express (train number 20424) while they were on the adjacent track.
According to railway officials, the panic began when passengers believed a mobile phone had exploded in one of the coaches. Witnesses reported chaos as passengers rushed to disembark and move away from the train. Rescue operations were conducted by teams from RPF, GRP, and local administration. All four bodies were recovered and sent for postmortem. Morena SP Dharma Raj Meena confirmed that police teams responded promptly to the scene after receiving information from a local resident.
