Thousands Rally in Bihar and Jharkhand for Tiranga Yatra on Independence Day

In a powerful display of patriotism, thousands of people participated in the Tiranga Yatra across Bihar and Jharkhand on Independence Day, 2026. The event, part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, saw enthusiastic participation from students, political leaders, and the general public, all carrying the Tricolour and chanting slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” to promote national pride and unity.

Bihar Chief Minister Leads Procession in Munger

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary led the Tiranga Yatra in Haveli Kharagpur, Munger district. Paying tributes to iconic leaders like Nandalal Bose, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, he emphasized the Tricolour’s role as a symbol of India’s unity, integrity, and pride. Choudhary urged citizens to transform the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative into a mass movement fostering patriotism and respect for the nation. Several ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and activists joined the procession.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai also participated in the Tiranga Yatra, leading a motorcycle rally from Mohiuddinnagar to Morwa within the Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency. Rai highlighted the campaign’s success in mobilizing public participation, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to action for its widespread impact.

Jharkhand Leaders and CRPF Rally Add to Celebrations

In Jharkhand, BJP Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi spearheaded a Tiranga Yatra in Medininagar, joined by Palamu MP B.D. Ram, Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh, and other leaders. Meanwhile, the 209 CoBRA Battalion (CRPF) organized a motorcycle rally from Khunti district, passing through Ranchi and visiting local schools. At each stop, CoBRA personnel engaged with students, distributed National Flags and chocolates, and spoke about civic responsibilities and the importance of respecting the Tricolour.

Independence Day Honours for Police Forces

Adding to the Independence Day celebrations, nine police officers from Jharkhand received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. In Bihar, the state’s police force was awarded the prestigious President’s Colour Award, with 18 personnel set to receive gallantry, meritorious, and distinguished service medals. Seven officers will also be awarded ₹51,000 by the State government. Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar lauded the recognition as a testament to the dedication of the state’s police personnel.
