Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Saturday that the State’s per capita income had surged to ₹4,18,931 in 2025-26, marking a significant 91% increase over the national average. Citing Reserve Bank of India data, he attributed this economic progress to the State government’s focused efforts over the past 32 months.

Vision for a $3 Trillion Economy by 2047

Speaking at the historic Golconda Fort in Hyderabad during the 80th Independence Day celebrations, Mr. Reddy outlined ambitious plans to transform Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He also emphasized the State’s goal to contribute 10% to the national GDP.

The Chief Minister highlighted the development of ‘Bharat Future City,’ envisioned as India’s first net-zero smart city and a hub for artificial intelligence, data centres, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies. “We are striving to rebuild Telangana and put it on the path of development,” he said, noting that his government had restored damaged systems since assuming office in December 2023.

Major Investments and Job Creation

Mr. Reddy revealed that the State had secured investments worth ₹1.29 lakh crore through its TG-iPASS initiative, creating the potential for over 78,000 jobs. Additionally, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹5.75 lakh crore were signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025. The State plans to host the summit again this year to attract further investments.

The government has also launched the Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy-2026 to position Telangana as a global leader in life sciences. Efforts are underway to attract investments in semiconductors, electronics, and advanced manufacturing.

Focus on Agriculture and Irrigation

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to farmers, Mr. Reddy said nearly ₹1.70 lakh crore had been spent on agriculture and farmer welfare over the past 32 months. He also stressed that Telangana would not compromise on its share of water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers. Pending irrigation projects, including Thummadihatti and the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, are being prioritized to ensure water reaches every acre of farmland.

Skilling the Youth

The Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skills University, which has provided advanced skill training to 1,190 individuals. Of these, 838 have already secured jobs in reputed companies, reflecting the government’s focus on equipping youth for the future.

A Model of Growth

Telangana’s economic strides under Mr. Reddy’s leadership reflect a comprehensive approach to development, combining investments, innovation, and welfare. Public representatives and senior officials, including Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and DGP C.V. Anand, attended the Independence Day event.
