Telangana launches four-day voter registration drive at polling booths this month

Election authorities in Telangana will conduct four days of special campaigns this month to enable citizens to file claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The campaigns will run in two spells, September 5 and 6, followed by September 12 and 13, at all polling stations across the state. The initiative is designed to make it easier for voters to register, shift their voting location, or request deletions by submitting Forms 6, 7, and 8 at the booth level.

Booth-level support for verification

Booth-level officers will be stationed at polling stations on the campaign days to review the draft electoral roll alongside Booth Level Agents, identify necessary corrections, and process applications in line with Election Commission of India guidelines.

Citizens can visit their designated polling station to verify the draft roll or lodge their claims and objections during the campaigns. The overall deadline for filing claims and objections as part of the Special Intensive Revision is September 16.

Parallel to the special campaigns, the regular process of lodging claims and objections at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers will continue without interruption.

Progress on SIR notices and applications

As of September 1, 2026, election authorities had generated 92,88,112 notices under the revision, with seven yet to be issued. Of the total notices generated, 31,74,952 were delivered to electors, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers conducted hearings on 1,94,737 notices.

The state has received 9,07,292 claims and objections so far. This includes 3,94,517 applications through Form-6 for enrolment as a new voter, 6,346 through Form-6A for overseas voter enrolment, 48,752 through Form-7 for objections or deletions from the draft rolls, and 4,57,677 through Form-8 for corrections in the draft electoral rolls.

The special campaigns are part of the broader effort to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the state's voter list ahead of upcoming elections.
