Telangana HC Chief Justice Calls for Embracing Gandhi's Principles in Law

Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Aparesh Kumar has called upon the legal community to embrace Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of prioritizing the welfare of the most marginalized individuals in society. Speaking on Independence Day at the High Court premises, he emphasized the importance of keeping Gandhi’s advice in mind while making decisions.

Progress in Digitization and Case Disposal

Highlighting significant strides in judicial administration, the Chief Justice revealed that the High Court had scanned and digitized 14.13 crore pages of its records, along with 8.89 crore pages of district judicial records. This effort aims to streamline access to legal documents and enhance efficiency.

In the previous year, the High Court registered 90,357 cases and successfully disposed of 80,020, achieving an impressive disposal rate of 88.5%. This reflects the judiciary's commitment to reducing pendency and expediting justice delivery.

Infrastructure Developments Underway

The Chief Justice also provided updates on ongoing infrastructure projects. Construction of Zone-II in the new High Court complex at Rajendranagar is progressing, with 25% of the work completed. Additionally, the Cultural Centre at the High Court guest house in Ashok Vihar is nearing completion.

The State government has allocated ₹751.45 crore for judicial infrastructure development in the financial year 2026-27. This budget will fund court buildings, residences for judicial officers, and staff facilities, underscoring the government’s focus on strengthening the judicial system.
