Telangana CM to Inaugurate ₹60,000-Crore AWS Data Centre in Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to lay the foundation stone for Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) flagship data centre in Bharat Future City on July 15, marking a milestone in the State’s push to become a leading digital infrastructure hub. The facility will be one of the largest hyper-scale data centres in the country.

Amazon’s Largest Investment in Telangana

The project is part of Amazon’s ₹60,000-crore investment plan in Telangana over the next decade, making it one of the largest technology investments ever secured by the State. This commitment was first finalized during discussions between the Chief Minister and Amazon executives at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2025. It culminated in a framework agreement signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit in December 2025.

Strategic Land Allocation and Government Support

The State government has allocated 202 acres in Bharat Future City and 98 acres in Chandanvelly for the data centre project. Additionally, incentives and concessions worth ₹125 crore have been extended to Amazon to facilitate the development. Officials say the initiative aligns with the government’s Planned Urban Expansion (PURE) program, aimed at boosting economic activity in peri-urban areas.

Construction Timeline and Economic Impact

The first phase of construction is expected to be completed within 24 months, with subsequent phases unfolding over the next 10 years. Once fully operational, the data centre is anticipated to play a significant role in the State’s economic growth, further cementing Hyderabad’s reputation as a technology hub.

This development underscores Telangana’s growing appeal to global tech giants and its strategic focus on fostering digital infrastructure.
