Telangana CM Pushes for Fast-Track Completion of Hyderabad Metro Phase II

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to accelerate the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project in the city’s old quarters, focusing on a 7.5 km stretch between MGBS and Chandrayangutta. The directive was issued during a meeting with Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) officials on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Road Widening and Technology Consultation

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to fast-track road widening works along the proposed metro corridor to ensure smooth progress. He also directed HMRL authorities to consult experts from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to determine the most suitable technology for the project. Simultaneously, tenders for the metro works in this corridor are to be floated without delay.

Addressing Passenger Demand with Additional Coaches

Acknowledging the growing commuter demand, Mr. Reddy instructed officials to finalize land acquisition for Phase II at the earliest and develop a plan to add additional coaches to the existing metro network. This measure aims to ease congestion and improve transit efficiency across Hyderabad.

Preparations for Invest Telangana Summit

The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the second edition of the global Invest Telangana summit, scheduled for December. He urged officials to ensure the event meets international standards, with a focus on honoring business leaders from various sectors. Additionally, he called for a comprehensive report on investments secured during the previous summit and a roadmap for attracting new investments.
