Telangana CM invites Oxford University to set up education programmes in Hyderabad

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked the University of Oxford to establish executive education programmes and a research centre in Hyderabad as Telangana positions itself as a global education destination.

Talks with Oxford academics in London

During discussions with Professor Maya Tudor of the Blavatnik School of Government and Professor Faisal Devji of Balliol College on Friday, Mr. Reddy presented the Telangana Rising vision and outlined plans to transform Hyderabad into a global education hub. The Chief Minister invited the 900-year-old university to work with the state's youth and working professionals and explore establishing a presence in Telangana.

K. Ramakrishna Rao, Advisor and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary in the Chief Minister's Office, delivered a detailed presentation on opportunities available to foreign universities under the National Education Policy, emphasising the advantages of setting up programmes and institutions in Hyderabad.

The Oxford academics expressed interest in collaborating with the Telangana government and indicated several possible areas of cooperation, according to a statement from the CMO. The delegation invited Oxford representatives to participate in the Telangana Rising Global Summit scheduled in Hyderabad from December 7 to 9.

Visit to Somerville College, sports facility

Later, Mr. Revanth Reddy visited Somerville College, where he paid respects to the portrait of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, an alumna of the institution. The portrait was gifted to the college by Sonia Gandhi in 2002.

The Chief Minister also visited the Utilita Bowl, a major integrated sporting facility operated by the GMR Group, accompanied by GMR Group Corporate chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi. The facility includes a golf course, sporting infrastructure and a hotel. Mr. Reddy held discussions with Mr. Grandhi and the GMR global sports unit, inviting the group to invest in Telangana and contribute to developing world-class sporting infrastructure in the state.
