Suspected Terrorist Arrested in Uttarakhand; Weapons from China Seized

A suspected terrorist, Eishanpreet Singh, was arrested in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, during a joint operation by the Uttarakhand STF, Punjab Police, and local authorities. Singh, a resident of Amritsar, was found in possession of weapons made in China, including 3 Zigana pistols, 3 Beretta pistols, 6 Chinese pistols, 20 magazines, and approximately 900 grams of heroin.

The weapons were reportedly delivered via drones from Pakistan to the Punjab border. Authorities suspect that Singh was planning a major incident before August 15. His associates are believed to be active in Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

The arrest followed intelligence inputs received in May from the Army, BSF, and Punjab Police's Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) about cross-border smuggling of weapons and drugs. Earlier, Singh had evaded capture during a raid at his residence in Amritsar on May 23, where a large cache of illegal weapons and drugs was discovered.

On June 15, acting on fresh intelligence, the Uttarakhand STF conducted a raid in Kesavnagar, Bazpur, and apprehended Singh. He is facing charges under the NDPS and Arms Act in Punjab's SAS Nagar. Following initial questioning, Singh was handed over to Punjab Police for further investigation into the international network.
