Science and spirituality exhibition draws 5,000 visitors in Guntur

A two-day exhibition exploring the intersection of science and spirituality attracted approximately 5,000 visitors in Guntur, with school students forming the bulk of the attendance. The event, which concluded on Wednesday, was organised by the Education Wing of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Guntur.

Of the total footfall, around 4,500 visitors were students from various schools, according to Guntur district Balvikas coordinators Putta Appa Rao and Palati Siva Leela.

Theme and participation

Titled "Experience the Harmony of Science and Spirituality", the exhibition aimed to bring together scientific thought, spiritual wisdom, education and human values while highlighting their relevance in contemporary life. Around 200 students from Sathya Sai Schools and Balvikas centres in Guntur took part in the exhibition, explaining the displays to those who attended.

Range of displays

The exhibition featured a wide array of subjects including yoga and meditation, Vedas, prayers and their significance, Indian festivals and traditions, marriage customs, yagnas, and temple architecture. Traditional attire and ornaments such as the bindi, bangles, saree, earrings and toe rings were also showcased with explanations of their significance. Additional exhibits focused on the unity of religions, service to humanity and human values.

Student-led initiative

A notable aspect of the event was that models on display were prepared by Balvikas students from all districts of Andhra Pradesh, presenting the spiritual significance of traditional practices and their relevance to modern life. About 150 volunteers and Sevadal members, along with teachers and staff, facilitated the programme. Visitors appreciated the initiative for presenting science and spirituality in a simple and meaningful manner.

The exhibition adopted "The end of education is character", as said by Baba, as its guiding motto. A.P. State Balvikas coordinator R. Madhavi, Sri Sathya Sai Education and Services Society vice-president P. L. Narasimha Rao and others coordinated the event.
