U.S. Ambassador, Indian Army commander witness firing demonstrati

U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor and Lieutenant General Vikrant Suresh Deshpande, General Officer Commanding, 10 Corps, watched Indian and U.S. Army personnel conduct a joint firing demonstration at the Mahajan Field Firing Range on Thursday (September 24, 2026), as part of Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026.

The demonstration was described as highlighting the scale and sophistication of the bilateral training between the two armies.

According to the Indian Army, the firing demonstration brought together artillery, aviation, air-defence and surveillance systems in a demanding field environment.

The Indian side featured the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher, the M777 ultra-light howitzer and the Dhanush artillery system during the demonstration.

The display also included AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, L70 air-defence guns and Swathi weapon-locating radars, the Indian Army informed.

The U.S. Army fielded HIMARS and M-LIDS as part of the exercise activity.

Focus on coordination and interoperability

The joint training reflected the ability of the Indian and U.S. armies to plan, coordinate and execute complex activities together, according to the Indian Army.

The Indian Army said the exercise was aimed at enhancing interoperability, professional trust and mutual confidence between the two forces.

It also said Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026 continues to strengthen the enduring partnership between the Indian and U.S. Armies.

That partnership is built on shared training, camaraderie and the confidence to operate together in increasingly complex battlespaces, the Indian Army said.
