Rajnath Singh unveils Raksha blueprint for India's defence diplomacy through 2036

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday unveiled a ten-year strategic blueprint titled 'Raksha' that maps India's approach to defence diplomacy and global security partnerships through 2036.

The framework sets out an actionable vision to deepen bilateral and multilateral defence ties, expand joint military exercises and training programmes, and enhance capacity-building initiatives with partner nations. It aligns national security objectives with proactive international cooperation to strengthen India's strategic engagement with friendly countries.

Indigenous exports and maritime focus

The document emphasises promoting indigenous defence exports under the Make-in-India initiative, seeking to position India as a reliable global defence manufacturing partner through expanded international cooperation around domestically developed platforms and technologies.

Maritime security forms another pillar, with the framework underlining India's role as a Net Security Provider and First Responder in the Indian Ocean Region. The roadmap commits India to ensuring peace, stability and security across the strategically important maritime zone.

The framework is designed to promote long-term stability, strengthen partnerships, and advance India's position in an evolving global security environment. It aims to ensure India continues playing an important role in promoting peace, stability and a rules-based international order.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs and National Security Council Secretariat attended the release.
