Prince Harry and Meghan to relocate to UK with children this month

Prince Harry and Meghan have decided to relocate to the United Kingdom with their two children by the end of this month, ending a six-year chapter in California that began when they stepped down from royal duties, British media reported late Wednesday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to settle in a private residence outside London, not in one of the royal properties. Their children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, have already been enrolled in a British school ahead of the September start of the academic year, according to reports by the BBC and other UK outlets.

Return will not change royal status

King Charles was informed on Sunday of his youngest son's plan to return to Britain, the Press Association reported. While the monarch "welcomes the opportunity to see more of the family in a personal capacity", the couple's status remains unchanged and they will not resume working royal roles, PA said.

The move marks a significant reversal six years after Harry and Meghan stepped back from their positions as working royals and moved to the United States. The couple had relocated to California following their decision to leave royal life.

The Telegraph reported the surprise development, noting the family's planned departure from America. The couple have already selected their new British home, though it will not be among the properties held by the royal estate.
