Pratapgarh food safety raids net six samples for adulteration testing

The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department in Pratapgarh conducted raids on restaurants, roadside eateries, and sweet shops on Monday as part of an anti-adulteration drive initiated on the orders of the District Magistrate. During the operation, six food samples were collected from various establishments and sent to the food analyst laboratory for testing.

The mobile food safety squad, led by Chief Food Safety Officer Deepak Kumar Srivastava and guided by Assistant Commissioner (Food) Grade-II Abhay Kumar Singh, began inspections at Tiwari Dhaba in Raniganj. The team collected samples of cooked lentils and mustard oil from the eatery. They subsequently inspected Dev Bhog Sweets before moving to Mitha Mahal near Power House Raniganj, where a sample of khoya was collected.

The inspection drive continued at Maniram Sweets in Prithviganj, where another khoya sample was taken for analysis. At Sagar Jalpaangrah near the District Hospital intersection, the team collected samples of khoya barfi and khoya. In total, six samples were gathered from these establishments during the day-long operation.

All collected samples have been dispatched to the food analyst laboratory for quality testing. Officials stated that appropriate action will be taken against the concerned establishments in accordance with regulations once the laboratory reports are received. The raid was conducted by a team of food safety officers including Roshan Singh, Santosh Kumar Dubey, Dr. Yadav Sanjay Kumar Nanhku, Shahab Uddin Siddiqui, and Dr. Shamshun Neha, among others.

The crackdown reflects heightened vigilance by the district administration to ensure food safety standards and prevent adulteration in eateries and sweet shops across Pratapgarh. Such inspections are conducted periodically to safeguard public health and maintain quality standards in food establishments.
