Police deploy drones and CCTV to monitor Milad-un-Nabi procession in Hyderabad

Drones, CCTV cameras to track main procession as police ban DJ systems and pre-event bike rallies

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Saturday announced that the main Milad-un-Nabi procession on August 26 will be monitored through drones and closed-circuit television cameras as part of heightened security arrangements.

Speaking after a coordination meeting with representatives of the Markaz-e-Milad Juloos Committee at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills, the Commissioner urged organisers to ensure the procession is conducted peacefully and concludes within the stipulated timeframe.

Traffic and noise restrictions

The Commissioner made it clear that DJs and sound systems causing excessive noise pollution would not be permitted in accordance with Supreme Court and government regulations. He also warned that minors driving vehicles, triple-riding on motorcycles and rash driving using modified silencers would not be tolerated. No bike rallies would be permitted before the scheduled date, he said.

Safety measures for monsoon

With the monsoon continuing, Sajjanar asked organisers to take precautions while putting up electrical decorations and ensure flags do not come into contact with power lines. Volunteers at food distribution points were also asked to coordinate with police to prevent traffic congestion.

Enhanced surveillance and coordination

Security measures are being strengthened in sensitive areas, while police will maintain surveillance over the procession through drones and CCTV cameras. The Commissioner said police would also keep a close watch on provocative or hateful content posted on social media and known troublemakers.

Stickers are being issued in advance for vehicles participating in the procession, while a dedicated coordination WhatsApp group and helpline have been set up for emergency communication.

During an earlier video conference with police officials, the Commissioner directed field-level personnel to work in coordination to ensure the celebrations pass off peacefully.

The meeting was attended by Additional CP (Law and Order, South Range) Tafseer Iqbal, Joint CP (Traffic) Joel Davis, DCP (Traffic-3) Rahul Hegde, DCP (Charminar) Khare Kiran Prabhakar, DCP (Rajendranagar) Srinivas, DCP (Shamshabad) Rajesh and DCP (Golconda) Raghavender Reddy along with representatives of the Markaz-e-Milad Juloos Committee.
