New Anantapur Red Cross Committee Takes Oath, Plans Outreach Programs

A newly elected 11-member executive committee of the Anantapur district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) officially took oath on Wednesday, marking the beginning of their term. The committee was formed following elections held during the annual general body meeting on April 29, where 44 nominations were filed across four panels.

Leadership Roles Finalized

The committee will be led by Gajjala Lakshmana Prasad as chairman, with Geetha Bala serving as vice-chairperson and Sunkara Ramesh as treasurer. Other elected members include K. Lakshminarayana, M.G. Eranna, O. Manoranjan Reddy, Alambana Janardhan, Bisathi Bharat, Dasari Bharat Kumar, V.K. Srivani, and Vishnupriya. The selection process involved consultations to ensure consensus among members.

Courtesy Call to District Collector

Following their swearing-in, the new executive committee visited District Collector O. Anand, who also serves as the District Red Cross Society president. During the meeting, Anand congratulated the members and praised the diverse expertise they bring to the table, spanning fields such as medicine, education, business, and social service.

Focus on Public Service

The Collector encouraged the committee to work collaboratively and expand their outreach efforts. He also directed them to prepare for the upcoming ‘Cheyutha’ free artificial limb distribution programme, scheduled for August 30. This initiative underscores the Red Cross Society’s commitment to serving the community.

The new leadership aims to strengthen the district branch’s activities and enhance its impact on public welfare.
