Mysuru Railway Division Records 3.10 Lakh Passengers in First Five Dasara Days
Mysuru railway division recorded 3.10 lakh passengers and Rs 3.11 crore in ticket sales during the first five days of Dasara 2026.
Ticket sales during the first five days of Dasara 2026 generated ₹3.11 crore for the South Western Railway’s Mysuru division, which recorded a total passenger footfall of 3.10 lakh during the period.
The division has made comprehensive arrangements to manage the increase in passengers during Dasara 2026 and to ensure safe, smooth and comfortable travel.
Passenger movement and ticket revenue
The latest footfall figure comes against the backdrop of higher passenger movement recorded during earlier Dasara celebrations.
During last year’s Dasara celebrations, the division recorded a total passenger footfall of 6.95 lakh, with a daily average of 69,523 passengers, and earned ₹5.43 crore from ticket sales.
In 2024, passenger footfall stood at 7.41 lakh, with a daily average of 67,423 passengers, while ticket revenue rose to ₹6.14 crore.
The comparison has prompted the division to focus on crowd management, ticketing capacity, passenger assistance and security arrangements during the current celebrations.
Security and crowd management
A total of 70 railway staff members have been deployed for effective crowd management.
More than 150 personnel from the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police will also assist with passenger movement and security.
At least 39 CCTV cameras are being used to monitor passenger movement and enhance security at the station.
Three ‘May I Help You’ kiosks have been established to assist passengers.
Two of the kiosks are located in the circulating area, while one has been placed on Platform No. 6.
An additional 15 staff members have been sought from the Bengaluru (SBC) and Hubballi (UBL) divisions to assist with ticket counter operations and ticket checking.
Scouts and Guides are expected to support passenger guidance and crowd regulation.
A total of 27 Travelling Ticket Examiners will be deployed for ticket checking and crowd management.
Walkie-talkies have been provided to staff to facilitate co-ordination with security personnel and other departments.
Ticketing facilities expanded
Special ticketing arrangements have been made to reduce congestion at booking counters and make ticket purchases more convenient for passengers.
The existing refreshment room has been utilised to help ease congestion in the booking area.
The main entry circulating area has eight Automatic Ticket Vending Machines and four Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System facilities.
Adequate display boards and banners are being installed to provide information about train services and passenger facilities.
These arrangements are intended to help passengers access ticketing facilities and obtain information while managing movement through the station.
Escalator, emergency and operational arrangements
Electrical staff, supported by security personnel, will monitor the escalators to ensure their smooth and uninterrupted operation.
The railway division has also established co-ordination with State Government agencies, including ambulance, fire and police services, for prompt assistance during emergencies.
As part of the special operational arrangements, parcel loading activities and buggy services will remain suspended on October 21 from 1 p.m. until the departure of the last train of the day.
The suspension is intended to minimise inconvenience to passengers and ensure smooth movement within the station.
South Western Railway’s Mysuru division has urged passengers to co-operate with railway staff, follow announcements and instructions displayed at stations, and adhere to safety guidelines.
“Passengers are advised to plan their journeys and extend their cooperation to railway personnel to ensure a safe, comfortable, and hassle-free travel experience during Dasara 2026,” a senior railway official told mediapersons at a press conference in Mysuru on October 16.
