First Jamboo Savari Rehearsal Held at Mysuru Palace Ahead of Dasara Finale
Mysuru held the first Jamboo Savari rehearsal, covering the Chamundeshwari ritual, elephant procession and security plans for the Dasara finale.
The flower-showering ritual for the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari was rehearsed at the Mysuru palace as preparations began for the grand Dasara finale.
The idol was shown seated in the golden howdah carried by the lead elephant during the rehearsal, which took place on the palace premises on Sunday.
Elephants and police personnel took part in the first rehearsal for the Jamboo Savari procession.
Positions rehearsed ahead of finale
Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, along with forest and police officials, rehearsed the ritual from the elevated rostrum in front of the palace.
The rehearsal was held ahead of the grand Dasara finale on October 21.
The finale will feature a procession of caparisoned elephants, cultural troupes and tableaux.
“We organised this to ensure that everything is synchronised and well coordinated,” Ms. Latkar said.
She added that the positions of all participants during the rehearsal would have to be maintained during the actual procession.
The rehearsal therefore covered not only the flower-showering ritual but also the placement and coordination required for the procession.
Second phase of security activated
Ms. Latkar said the second phase of security arrangements had been activated for the Dasara finale.
Nearly 23 Superintendents of Police (SPs) and more than 6,000 security personnel have been deployed as part of the arrangements.
The deployment includes Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) personnel and Home Guards.
The first phase of security arrangements remained in force until the drone and air shows, Ms. Latkar said.
The second phase will be in force on October 20 and 21.
A tableau of the Indian Army will also take part in this year’s procession.
Details of the dignitaries expected to visit Mysuru to witness the grand finale would be communicated later, Ms. Latkar said.
