A young man visiting his ailing mother in Kanpur was shot over an old rivalry, leaving him critically injured, while his uncle died of a heart attack after witnessing the aftermath. The incident occurred late Tuesday night in the Kalyanpur area, police said on Wednesday.

Pradeep Singh, a resident of Awas Vikas-3 and employed with a private company in Hyderabad, had returned home to see his cancer-stricken mother. According to the family, local youths called Pradeep to Gajanan Park, where they allegedly forced him to consume alcohol. An argument broke out, escalating into a physical assault. The attackers reportedly beat him with belts and fists before opening fire, leaving him with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The attackers fled the scene, and Pradeep’s friends rushed him to a private hospital. He was later referred to another facility for advanced treatment. His condition remains critical and under medical supervision.

Tragically, Pradeep’s uncle, Ramji Singh, suffered a heart attack after seeing him covered in blood. Despite being rushed for treatment, Ramji could not be saved.

The police are investigating the case, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused. The incident has left the family in shock, grappling with both Pradeep’s critical condition and Ramji’s sudden demise.
