Narmadapuram police have solved the murder of Sachin Rajput, a BJP worker and dhaba owner, within 24 hours, arresting his brother-in-law, Yogendra alias Yogi Gurjar, for the crime. Authorities allege that Yogendra, 30, from Sehore district, killed Sachin over suspicions of an affair with his wife.

According to police, Yogendra lured Sachin to an isolated canal culvert near Rani Pipariya in Sohagpur on the night of June 17 under the pretext of a meeting. Once there, he allegedly shot Sachin in the head. Sachin, who owned the Rajput Dhaba near Mahua village on Pipariya Road, had been at his eatery before leaving with Yogendra on a motorcycle.

When Sachin failed to return, his family and staff began searching for him and informed the police. Using technical surveillance and mobile location data, authorities traced his last known location to a canal area about 1 km from the Pipariya-Narmadapuram state highway. Around 3 am, his body was discovered in a culvert on the Pondhi-Panjra road, with a gunshot wound to the head.

The murder sparked protests in Sohagpur on Wednesday, with residents blocking a road and demanding swift action. The demonstrations ended after Superintendent of Police Sai Krishna Thota assured them of prompt measures.

Police revealed that Yogendra had planned the murder due to his suspicions about Sachin's relationship with his wife. A country-made pistol, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and the clothes worn by the accused during the crime have been seized as evidence. Sachin was known as an active BJP worker and a close associate of Sohagpur BJP MLA Vijaypal Singh.
