A protest by farmers in the village of Kanawni over the restoration of their names in land revenue records entered its 28th consecutive day, with demonstrators maintaining their sit-in and refusing to relent until their demands are met.

The farmers have been staging a peaceful and organized dharna for four weeks now, remaining firm on their demands. They say the authority had their names deleted from revenue records and khatauni land registers.

According to the farmers, the time limit fixed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court has expired, and since the award was not prepared within the stipulated period, the authority's powers have lapsed as per the court's order. In this situation, the farmers' main demand now is that their names be re-entered in the revenue records and restored in the khataunis.

The protesters made it clear that the dharna will not be called off until the farmers' names are entered in the revenue records. The farmers will continue their struggle for the restoration of their land and revenue rights.

People from surrounding villages arrived in large numbers at the dharna site in Kanawni to extend their support to the farmers' movement. Pratap Singh from Baghpat, Satveer Singh from Dausa, and people from other villages reached the protest site and expressed their solidarity in support of the farmers' demands.

Among those present at the dharna were Mathan Singh Nagar, Shrichand Nagar, Rajendra Singh Nagar, Ranveer Baisla, Dhaneshwar Sharma, Karan Singh Nagar, Gajendra Singh Nagar, Deepchand Nagar, Vinod Nagar, Satish Nagar, Parveen Nagar, Ashok Kasana, and many other farmers and villagers.

The farmers assert that the authority had entered their names in the revenue records and khataunis previously. They are demanding that since the deadline set by the Supreme Court has passed without the award being finalized, the authority no longer has jurisdiction, and therefore the revenue records must now reflect their ownership once again.
