Ghaziabad farmers continue 32-day protest demanding land rights restoration before development scheme

Farmers from Kanawni village in Ghaziabad have continued their protest for the 32nd consecutive day, demanding restoration of their land rights and insisting that the Ghaziabad Development Authority halt the planned launch of Phase-1 of the Indrapuram Extension Scheme until proper legal acquisition procedures are completed.

The farmers remain stationed at the protest site, pressing their demand for the return of their land and the restoration of their names in revenue records. The protest, which began over a month ago, shows no signs of ending as the cultivators insist on a resolution to their grievances.

The farmers have accused the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) of preparing to launch Phase-1 of the Indrapuram Extension Scheme even though their land has not yet been legally acquired by the authority. According to the protesting cultivators, the GDA is moving forward with a layout plan on their land without having completed the formal acquisition process, which they say is illegal.

The farmers allege that this action amounts to contempt of court orders. They have stated that until the legal process concerning the land is completed, the authority should not proceed with preparing layouts or launching Phase-1 of the scheme on their land.

Farmers Chatar Singh Nagar and Shrichand Nagar said that the land belongs to the farmers and that they will continue their struggle for their rights in a peaceful and democratic manner. The farmers made it clear that their protest will continue until their demands are resolved and their names are restored in the revenue records.

Among those present at the protest site were Sukhvir Nagar, Mahendra Nagar, Kabool Singh, Satish Nagar, Layak Ram, Praveen Nagar, Ashok Kasana, Amit Kasana, Vineet, Tirkha, Arun Nagar, Pintu Nagar and other farmers. The demonstration is taking place in Kanawni, Ghaziabad, and the farmers remain determined to protect their land ownership rights against what they view as unauthorized development plans by the local authority.
