India Post Serves Nearly 20 Lakh Cheyutha Pension Beneficiaries Monthly
India Post says its Telangana network reaches nearly 20 lakh Cheyutha pension beneficiaries monthly, alongside new digital and Speed Post services.
At a press conference in Hyderabad, India Post detailed an expansion of digital services, financial-inclusion initiatives and last-mile delivery across Telangana. The expansion includes services reaching nearly 20 lakh Cheyutha pension beneficiaries every month.
The briefing was held at Dak Sadan on World Post Day, observed on Friday (October 9, 2026). Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) D.S.V.R. Murthy addressed the press conference and outlined the Department of Posts’ ongoing initiatives in the state.
National Postal Week and Telangana’s network
The Department of Posts is observing National Postal Week from October 9 to 15 under the theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities.” Murthy said the theme reflects India Post’s transformation into a modern, technology-enabled organisation while retaining its extensive physical presence.
The Telangana Circle operates through 36 Head Post Offices, 759 Sub Post Offices and 5,424 Branch Post Offices. Its network is supported by 6,514 departmental employees and 10,623 Gramin Dak Sevaks. These figures describe the physical and staffing base through which the Circle continues to deliver postal and citizen-centric services across the state.
The Department also issued 1.86 lakh appointment and engagement orders nationwide across 17 Rozgar Mela phases, including 1,272 appointments in the State.
Digital platforms and delivery services
Murthy highlighted the rollout of the indigenous APT 2.0 platform and DIGIPIN, a geo-coded digital address system developed with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad and NRSC-ISRO. He said these initiatives have enhanced service delivery.
The Door Step Service application enables real-time tracking, while the 24-Hour and 48-Hour Speed Post services launched in Hyderabad have handled over 1.33 lakh articles. The delivery figures place the faster Speed Post services alongside the Department’s wider effort to combine technology with its existing physical network.
Passport, Aadhaar and financial inclusion
Telangana’s 14 Passport Seva Kendras facilitated over 1.66 lakh passport transactions in 2025-26. The Circle’s 263 Aadhaar centres recorded 4.75 lakh transactions during the same period.
Telangana Circle also maintains 1.07 crore Post Office Savings Bank accounts. It aims to bring 25% of the rural population under financial inclusion by 2026-27.
During 2025-26, the Circle sold 71,233 Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance policies and earned revenue of ₹596.71 crore. Together, the figures cover pension delivery, digital addressing, speed delivery, identity-related transactions, savings accounts and insurance services within the Telangana Circle’s stated expansion.
