Hyundai Bids Farewell to i20 N with New Shadow Edition: Limited to 100 Units!

Hyundai has unveiled the i20 N Shadow Edition for the Australian market, marking a special farewell to the current-generation performance hatchback. This exclusive variant is limited to just 100 units and features cosmetic upgrades while retaining the mechanical package of the standard i20 N.

Unlike Hyundai’s N Line models, the N-badged vehicles are engineered with a stronger emphasis on performance. Australia remains one of the few markets globally where the i20 N is officially available. However, the launch plans for the Shadow Edition in other markets remain uncertain, and it is unclear whether the next-generation i20 will include an N performance variant.

Under the hood, the i20 N Shadow Edition continues to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. This unit delivers 204hp and 275Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox that drives the front wheels. Hyundai claims the hot hatch can accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 230kph.

The Shadow Edition introduces unique styling elements, including 18-inch forged alloy wheels finished in matte bronze with black centre caps and bronze decals on the lower sections of the doors. Buyers can select from two exterior colours, fewer than the five options available on the regular i20 N.

Other exterior features remain unchanged, such as the N-specific sportier bumpers, red accents, a rear spoiler, and an oval exhaust outlet. Inside, the Shadow Edition gains premium touches like an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever, a numbered plaque below the centre air vents, and custom rubber floor mats inspired by the tread pattern of the Pirelli P Zero tyres fitted to the car.

The hatchback also comes loaded with advanced features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, a Bose audio system, heated front seats, launch control, rev match function, performance telemetry, a lap timer, a mechanical limited-slip differential (e-LSD), and a variable exhaust system.

This limited-edition model is a fitting send-off for the i20 N, combining striking aesthetics with thrilling performance. Fans of the hot hatch will have to act quickly to secure one of the 100 units available in Australia.
