Hyderabad plans ₹1,335 crore elevated corridor to decongest tech corridor traffic

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has set a deadline for contractors to submit proposals for an elevated corridor linking Banjara Hills and Gachibowli, with the ₹1,334.87 crore project designed to ease congestion along one of the city's busiest tech corridors.

Project scope and design

The 8.75-kilometre elevated corridor will run from the Integrated Command and Control Centre at Banjara Hills to the Shilpa Layout flyover, HMDA announced in its tender invitation. The authority will execute the work under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction turnkey system, which bundles survey, investigation, design and construction responsibilities with the winning bidder. Road widening and reconstruction works are also part of the contract.

The corridor will feature a mix of four-lane and six-lane elevated sections, complemented by entry and exit ramps at multiple points and stretches of road at ground level. The six-lane elevated section has been designed with provisions for ramps at several locations to allow seamless traffic flow. HMDA has earmarked approximately 200 metres by 20 metres of space for the possible future development of a viewing gallery.

Timeline and bidding process

Contractors have until October 5 to submit their bids. HMDA has scheduled a pre-bid meeting for September 22 at the office of the Chief Engineer to address queries from prospective bidders. The authority has specified a 24-month completion window for the project, a timeline that accounts for the monsoon period and the shifting of utilities.
