Hathras, October 13: District Magistrate Satya Prakash Patel heard the problems of complainants during the Janata Darshan on Tuesday and directed officials of the concerned departments to verify complaints on the spot and ensure their timely and quality resolution. He made it clear that the prompt and effective resolution of public complaints is among the government’s top priorities and that any kind of negligence in this work would not be tolerated.
The District Magistrate instructed officials to remain mandatorily present in their offices during public hearings so that complainants do not have to move from one place to another to present their problems. He also directed that people arriving with complaints should be treated respectfully and that proper arrangements, including seating and other necessary facilities, should be ensured for them.
The DM said complaints should, as far as possible, be resolved at the spot. This, he said, would save the general public from unnecessary running around. He underlined that the responsibility of officials is not limited to merely issuing an order on a complaint. They must also ensure that the complaint is effectively resolved.
Taking serious note of cases that have remained pending for a long time, Satya Prakash Patel directed the concerned revenue and police officials to coordinate with each other and take effective action. The instructions were aimed at ensuring that complaints are not only examined but also taken to a proper conclusion within the required timeframe.
The District Magistrate placed special emphasis on the resolution of land-related disputes. He said that, wherever necessary, a joint team of the revenue and police departments should be formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Circle Officer. The team should reach the spot, investigate the dispute and ensure effective action according to the rules.
He said this process should help in finding a permanent solution to land disputes and prevent people from having to repeatedly visit the offices of officials. The instructions specifically focused on dealing with such matters through coordinated action by the revenue and police departments.
Satya Prakash Patel also directed officials to regularly review complaints received through IGRS, the Chief Minister Helpline, Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas and Thana Samadhan Diwas. He said complaints received through all these channels must also be resolved within the prescribed time limit and with quality.
The District Magistrate further instructed officials to give priority to public problems received through public representatives and ensure their effective resolution. He told all concerned officers to work with sensitivity, accountability and seriousness while dealing with public grievances.
He said that action on public complaints should be carried out in a manner that enables the general public to receive prompt relief from the administration.
