Bike Allegedly Stolen Outside Hathras SDM Office, CCTV Security Under Scrutiny

A bike was allegedly stolen from in front of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office inside the tehsil premises in the Hathras Gate area of Hathras. Questions have now been raised over the security arrangements after it was alleged that the CCTV cameras installed in the tehsil complex were not working.

The bike belonged to Hitendra Poonia, son of Vijay Singh Poonia, a resident of Kalwari, Hathras. He had reached the tehsil premises to meet a lawyer and had parked his bike in front of the SDM office.

According to the information provided by the victim, he returned after some time and found that the bike was missing from the spot. He searched the surrounding area, but could not find any trace of it. He then informed the police about the matter.

Police are investigating the case. The bike was reportedly stolen from within the premises of a government office and from a location directly in front of the SDM office. The incident has raised concern over security inside the tehsil complex.

Hitendra Poonia said that the theft of a bike from inside the government office premises was a matter of concern. He also alleged that the CCTV cameras installed for security at the tehsil premises were lying switched off.

The allegation about the non-functional cameras has raised questions about the monitoring of people entering and leaving the complex, as well as the overall security arrangements there. With the cameras not working, the security system may not be able to properly track movement within the premises, according to the concern raised by the victim.

Hitendra Poonia has appealed to the administration to get his bike recovered and to improve the security arrangements at the tehsil premises. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
