Hathras District Magistrate Saty Prakash Patel has directed officials to ensure the time-bound and quality disposal of public complaints, warning that negligence or unnecessary delay will not be tolerated. He said the disposal of public grievances is among the government’s top priorities.
The District Magistrate made it clear that complaints should not be closed merely as a formality. Officials must ensure the actual and permanent resolution of the problems raised by complainants, he directed.
During the Janata Darshan held at the collectorate on Friday, the District Magistrate heard the problems and complaints of members of the public seriously. He instructed the concerned departmental officials to dispose of the complaints effectively within the prescribed time limit.
Patel also directed all officials to conduct public hearings themselves in their offices on every working day. As far as possible, complaints should be resolved at the spot, he said.
Taking a serious view of complaints that have remained pending for a long time, the District Magistrate contacted the concerned officials by telephone and instructed them to ensure their early disposal. He further directed that the actual status of complaints should be monitored effectively even after they are shown as disposed of.
The District Magistrate said this monitoring was necessary so that complainants do not have to make repeated visits to government offices.
On matters related to land disputes, Patel directed sub-divisional magistrates and circle officers to form joint teams of the Revenue and Police departments, wherever necessary, and take action at the spot.
He said effective action should be taken in such cases and a permanent solution to the disputes should be ensured, so that members of the public can get relief.
The District Magistrate also stressed that public problems received from public representatives should be disposed of on a priority basis. He instructed officials to receive calls themselves on their official CUG numbers and maintain regular contact and coordination with public representatives.
According to the direction, this coordination should help ensure that public problems are resolved in time.
Patel also ordered regular reviews of complaints received through IGRS, the Chief Minister’s Helpline, Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas and Thana Samadhan Diwas. He directed officials to ensure the quality disposal of all complaints within the prescribed time limit.
The District Magistrate said that effective and transparent disposal of public complaints would strengthen the public’s trust in the administration. He added that it would also lead to an improvement in the district’s performance in the IGRS ranking.
