Haryana cabinet gives nod to amendments to Agniveer policy for gainful employment

Ex-Agniveers applying for covered Group-C posts in Haryana will be exempted from examinations prescribed for direct recruitment under amendments approved by the state Cabinet.

The changes are intended to support the rehabilitation and gainful employment of Ex-Agniveers by recognising the training, discipline and skills they acquired during service.

The Cabinet approved the amendments at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Exemption from Group-C recruitment examinations

Under the approved policy, Ex-Agniveers will be considered for direct appointment against advertised posts.

Their appointments will remain subject to the prescribed reservation and other applicable recruitment provisions, Saini said.

The exemption covers “all types of examinations prescribed for direct recruitment to Group-C posts covered under the policy,” according to the Chief Minister.

The decision links eligibility for these posts to the skills and training of Ex-Agniveers while retaining the reservation and recruitment conditions applicable to the advertised positions.

Relief from physical tests for specified posts

The Cabinet also approved exemptions from the Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT), wherever applicable, for Ex-Agniveers applying for four categories of posts.

These include Wildlife Guard in the Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department, Constable in the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Constable in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Fire Operator-cum-Driver in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.

Saini said these posts had recently been included under the state’s Ex-Agniveer reservation policy.

The exemptions therefore cover both the recruitment examinations for eligible Group-C posts and the specified physical tests for the listed positions.

Continuation of finance commission recommendations

In a separate decision, the Cabinet approved the continuation of the recommendations of the sixth State Finance Commission for the devolution of funds to rural and urban local bodies.

The arrangement will continue from the financial year 2026-27 until the recommendations of the next State Finance Commission become available.

The Cabinet’s decisions were announced after the meeting chaired by Saini.
