A Gurugram court granted police two days' custody of hit-and-run accused Kalyan Bainsla and his cousin Lavnish to recreate the crime scene, with the next hearing set for September 18.
The court of Nidhi Beniwal allowed the remand application on Wednesday (September 16, 2026), after police sought custody to recreate the sequence of events at the site. Both accused had been nabbed from Rajgarh in Rajasthan, a short distance from Gurugram, on Tuesday (September 15). Bainsla is 33 years old and Lavnish is 34.
The Golf Course Road incident
The case stems from an incident on Sunday (September 13) when Bainsla, a gym owner, grazed his car with biker Shivani Chauhan, alias Siya, on the Golf Course road. He was coming at speed from behind when the contact knocked Chauhan off her vehicle and sent her skidding down the road in a life-threatening situation.
Defence argument rejected
Defence counsel Lalit Bindal opposed the remand, arguing that Bainsla had already been in police custody for 24 hours, during which time the scene could have been recreated. "Allowing the remand application filed by the police today, seeking two days of police custody, the court has awarded two days of police custody, with the next hearing scheduled for September 18," Bindal said after the order.
The court's decision enables investigators to take both accused to the Golf Course road location where the collision occurred.
