Bollywood veteran Govinda is in advanced talks to join the second season of MX Player's reality show 'Rise And Fall' as a contestant, with negotiations reportedly in their final stages. If the deal materializes, it would mark the actor's first appearance as a reality TV contestant, representing a significant shift for the 1990s superstar who has previously only hosted or appeared as a guest on such formats.

High-Profile Casting for Season Two

According to Variety India, Govinda has been approached for the show and is keen on coming on board. The production team is said to be finalizing contractual and scheduling details before issuing a formal confirmation, with his participation described as imminent but not yet formally locked. The format's second season is being built around high-visibility names, with Govinda's inclusion expected to deliver a major nostalgia-driven boost to the franchise.

Govinda's Reality TV History

While this would be his first stint as a contestant, Govinda has previously hosted the game show Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke and has made several reality TV appearances over the years, including guest spots on Indian Idol, Dance India Dance and Super Dancer. He has also appeared on Salman Khan's Bigg Boss. His most recent reality TV appearance was on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, where he arrived to pick up his wife, Sunita Ahuja, after she exited the show, citing health concerns.

About Rise And Fall

Rise And Fall is the Indian adaptation of the British reality format created by Studio Lambert and originally hosted by Greg James. The show's first season was hosted by Ashneer Grover, the BharatPe co-founder and former Shark Tank India judge. It saw 15 celebrity contestants competing in a unique "penthouse and basement" format where they were divided into rulers and workers.

Timing Amid Personal Turmoil

The potential casting comes as Govinda's personal life has remained under public scrutiny in recent months. Sunita Ahuja previously made remarks about the actor's alleged association with Komal Rani Swarnkar, even claiming that he wanted to marry her. In December 2024, Sunita reportedly approached the Bandra Family Court for divorce, citing adultery, cruelty and desertion in her petition.

Recently, Sunita visited the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai with her son Yashvardhan and officially withdrew her divorce petition against Govinda. His manager confirmed that she had withdrawn the case and that their disputes have been settled amicably.
