Food Department seizes suspected adulterated milk, paneer in Morena raids

Adulterated milk and paneer have been seized in Joura, where the Food Department carried out raids at two milk dairies in Morena district. The action was taken against adulteration in food products by an investigation team formed by the Collector.

During the raids, samples of mixed milk and paneer were collected from one dairy. At the second dairy, the team found 60 kilograms of paneer and 4 kilograms of refined palmolein oil. The presence of adulteration was suspected in the material. After collecting samples for testing, the remaining paneer and oil were seized.

The seized material is estimated to be worth around Rs 18,000. Samples collected during the action have been sent to Bhopal for examination. A letter has also been written regarding cancellation of the dairy licence.

The investigation team first reached Bajrang Dairy on Nahrela Road. Samples of mixed milk and paneer were collected from the establishment of its proprietor, Ram Lakhan Singh Gurjar.

After this, the team reached Shri Nadhya Dairy on Pagara Road. The premises belong to proprietor Anurag Jadon. There, officials found 60 kilograms of paneer and 4 kilograms of refined palmolein oil. Samples were taken from the food products for testing, and the remaining material was seized.

The food products were also checked at the spot with the help of a mobile food testing laboratory. During the action, people were informed about adulteration in milk and dairy products.

Food Inspector Mahendra Singh said that adulterants had been found on the premises of Shri Nadhya Dairy. On this basis, a recommendation is being made to suspend the dairy’s food registration.

Samples collected from both dairies have been sent for testing. Officials said further legal action would be taken after the report is received.
