Divorced couple in Dharmavaram reunites after family counselling intervention

A divorced couple in Dharmavaram have agreed to reunite after sessions at the district Family Counselling Centre, with police officers and counsellors persuading them to reconsider their separation for the sake of their children.

Tulasi and her husband Saikumar had obtained a divorce in 2026 following a family dispute but returned to the counselling centre again, keeping their children's future in mind. Police officers and counselling centre representatives explained the importance of mutual understanding, family bonds and the well-being of children during the sessions. The couple subsequently agreed to reunite.

District police chief reviews counselling services

Sri Sathya Sai district Additional Superintendent of Police Ankita Surana inspected the Family Counselling Centre in Dharmavaram on Saturday and interacted with complainants to understand their grievances and the family circumstances behind their disputes.

Speaking to the media, Ms. Surana said the incident demonstrated the role of counselling centres in bringing separated families together. She urged people to seek counselling before disputes escalated and asked officials to hear both sides patiently and impartially.

Family counselling centres play a crucial role in resolving marital disputes and restoring harmony in families, Ms. Surana said. She appealed to people with grievances to approach police officers and counselling centre staff and avail themselves of their services.

"The police will continue to promote peace and harmony in families," she said.
