Kanpur Dehat to install daughter statues promoting girls education and safety

Kanpur Dehat district in Uttar Pradesh is set to honor daughters by installing inspirational statues at two major intersections, marking a significant step under the state government's women empowerment initiatives and the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign. The decision was announced by State Minister Pratibha Shukla during a review meeting of the Women Welfare, Child Development and Nutrition Department held Thursday at Akbarpur Block Hall.

The two prominent intersections will be renamed after daughters and will feature statues designed to inspire the community. The initiative aims to deliver a strong message about the education, safety, dignity and self-reliance of girls in society. The move reinforces the Uttar Pradesh government's commitment to bringing women empowerment priorities from policy to ground reality.

During the meeting, Minister Shukla issued strict instructions regarding supplementary nutrition distribution through Anganwadi centers, adopting a zero-tolerance policy toward lapses. She emphasized that nutritional supplements must reach beneficiaries on time, warning that negligence would not be tolerated. The minister also reviewed the progress of the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, directing officials to ensure benefits reach eligible beneficiaries with complete transparency.

The review meeting further focused on improving basic facilities at operational and under-construction Anganwadi centers for women and children, with instructions for regular monitoring. The meeting was attended by Akbarpur Block Chief Ashish Mishra, District Programme Officer RB Singh, District Probation Officer Renu Yadav, and all CDPOs and supervisors.

This initiative represents the government's broader effort to create visible symbols of respect for daughters while strengthening welfare schemes that support their development and future prospects across the district.
