Vizianagaram: The Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUMT), Vizianagaram, has announced the launch of four new B.Tech courses aimed at bridging the employment gap for upcoming Data Centres by Google and Reliance in the Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts. The announcement was made by the university's Vice President, Dr. D.N. Rao, on Thursday. The new courses include B.Tech in Chip Designing, Data Centre Management, Robotics, and Drone Technology.
Dr. Rao stated that these courses were developed after a comprehensive analysis of the future requirements of industries and companies across the country. The university aims to equip students with skills relevant to the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The new programs will commence in the 2026-27 academic year with a fully established faculty team. Additionally, the university is revising the curriculum of its existing 15 courses, including Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical, and Civil, to incorporate new technologies and enable students to upskill in their chosen fields.
Dr. Rao highlighted the growing industrial opportunities in the region, citing the development of Data Centres and the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport as significant drivers of job creation. To enhance practical training for students, the university is collaborating with various companies through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). Recently, an MoU was signed with Viswasamudra, a company constructing a seaport in Mulapeta, Srikakulam district.
Praising the Andhra Pradesh government for its focus on developing the North Andhra region, Dr. Rao pointed to initiatives such as the establishment of Data Centres, an international airport, a cargo airport, a seaport, and a steel plant in Anakapalli district. He encouraged students to seriously enhance their skills to secure opportunities in leading companies across the country.
