IIT Gandhinagar to Award Degrees to Record 734 Students Tomorrow

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) is set to hold its convocation ceremony tomorrow, awarding degrees to a record-breaking 734 students. The event will take place at the Helipad Exhibition Centre (HEC) in Gandhinagar, marking the largest graduating batch in the institute’s history. Students from 26 states and Union Territories across India will be part of this milestone occasion.

IIT-Gn director Rajat Moona, speaking to the media on Thursday, shared details about the diverse academic achievements of the cohort. Among the graduates are 40 students from the eMasters (executive masters) programme, 18 from the MTech (artificial intelligence) programme, and 15 from MTech (integrated circuit design). Notably, the batch also includes 107 PhD scholars, one of the highest numbers recorded by the institute in recent years.

The convocation will feature prominent guests, with Neelkanth Mishra, chief economist at Axis Bank and chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), serving as the chief guest. Dr L N Dorairajan, executive director of AIIMS Rajkot, will preside over the awards ceremony, while Prof Pai Chi Li, president of the Asian Institute of Technology, will join as the guest of honour.
